Most women find us the same way — something stopped them mid-scroll, and it just felt like theirs.
You're in the right place.
Gold-eyed and regal, she blooms in violet wherever you go
Front and center on this barrel-shaped traveler is a large, regal cat face rendered in layers of quilted and appliquéd fabric. The cat's fur is built up in sweeping strips of ivory and soft white, each piece stitched down so the texture reads almost like brushstrokes. Deep violet and amethyst purples move through the whisker lines, ear markings, and expressive eyes — those eyes are stunning up close, ringed in gold thread with a swirling, almost painterly iris. The background blooms with purple florals and a classic diamond-grid quilted panel on one side. Claire and Riley found this piece for the shop their mother Margaret opened in Cape May in 1978, choosing it the way they choose everything: because it stopped them cold and made them want to pick it up.
- A Face, Not a Pattern — The full cat portrait spans the entire front panel, so the face reads clearly from across a room — not a small repeat print, but one bold, centered image.
- Details — 19" × 9" × 9", roomy enough for a long weekend and soft enough to squash into a car boot.
- Layered Texture You Can Feel — The cat's fur is built from individually appliquéd fabric strips stitched in close parallel lines, giving the white and ivory areas a raised, almost sculptural quality.
- Rich Purple Throughout — Deep amethyst purple ties every element together — the quilted diamond side panel, the rolled handles, the floral background medallions, and the cat's own violet-toned markings.
- The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
- Looking After Her — Spot clean with a soft damp cloth and let her air dry. No tumble dryer — it flattens the quilting.
You pull it off the baggage carousel in Nashville and the woman behind you says, without any preamble, "That cat — where did you get that bag?"
⚠ Because every bag is made by hand, small differences in colour, stitching and placement will happen. That is not a fault — it is the proof a person made it.
This is not the least expensive bag you will find, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is for the woman who has been carrying the same forgettable tote for years and has finally decided her luggage should actually look like her.
“We carried it around the shop for an hour before we could put it down.” — Claire & Riley, Cape May
