Silken South — Product Hook

Most women find us the same way — something stopped them mid-scroll, and it just felt like theirs.

You're in the right place.

Three boards, two palms, one shore stitched for keeps

Three surfboards stand upright in the center of this barrel-style traveler — one yellow-orange, one red-striped, one sky blue — each one quilted with fine parallel lines that give them real dimension. Behind them, a golden sandy shore stretches across the bag's body, shaded by two tall embroidered palm trees with feathery green fronds. Scattered at their roots: red hibiscus blooms, ridged scallop shells, and a smooth sand dollar, every detail raised in appliqué against a softly swirling wave-quilted sky and water border in warm aqua. Claire and Riley found this piece the same way they find everything for the shop their mother Margaret opened in Cape May in 1978 — they fell for it first, then brought it home for you.

  • Raised Surfboard Appliqué — Each of the three surfboards is individually appliquéd and quilted in its own colour — amber-gold, cherry red, and ocean blue — so they stand out visually from the sandy background.
  • Details — 19" × 9" × 9", roomy enough for a long weekend and soft enough to squash into a car boot.
  • Swirling Wave Quilting — The background stitching follows loose, rolling wave motifs across the sky and shoreline, giving the whole bag a sense of gentle movement even when it's sitting still.
  • Natural Cotton Carry Straps — The straps are wide, unbleached cotton webbing — substantial enough to sit comfortably on a shoulder whether the bag is light or fully packed for a long weekend.
  • The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
  • Looking After Her — Spot clean with a soft damp cloth and let her air dry. No tumble dryer — it flattens the quilting.

You pull this off the baggage carousel in Fort Lauderdale — the hibiscus blooms and yellow surfboard facing out — and two strangers ask where you got it before you reach the exit.

⚠ Because every bag is made by hand, small differences in colour, stitching and placement will happen. That is not a fault — it is the proof a person made it.

This is a handmade bag, and it's priced like one — artisan time and quality materials are built into what you pay. It's made for the woman who is done buying things she doesn't love just because they're practical.

“We carried it around the shop for an hour before we even talked about ordering it.” — Claire & Riley, Cape May
