Six soft faces blooming in a garden built just for them

Six kittens — a striped tabby, a white longhair, a pair of orange tabbies, and two black-and-white kittens — are rendered in soft, painterly detail across the body of this barrel-shaped bag, each face looking out with wide, expressive eyes. They nestle among lush appliquéd florals: deep pink dahlias, lavender hydrangeas, and layers of green leaves that wrap around the sides in a full garden scene. The quilting runs in neat parallel channels along the cream top panel and the padded handles, giving the whole bag a structured yet pillowy feel. Claire and Riley found this piece the same way they find everything for the shop — by trusting their own eyes, the same instinct their mother Margaret brought to this Cape May store when she opened it in 1978.

• Full-Wrap Floral Appliqué — Pink dahlias, lavender hydrangeas, and deep green leaves wrap continuously around both sides of the bag, so there is no plain back panel to hide against your leg.
• Quilted Handles and Top Panel — The cream-toned top and the rolled handles are stitched in close parallel channels, adding structure and a cushioned feel right where your hand grips.
• The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
• Looking After Her — Spot clean with a soft damp cloth and let her air dry. No tumble dryer — it flattens the quilting.

You pull this bag off the hotel luggage cart, the kittens and dahlias facing outward, and the woman behind you on the elevator immediately says — unprompted — "I have to know where you got that."
